The new website is finally done. You can browse without ever having an account, but some articles and features are available only to people who are logged in.
In the album galleries, you can use the right and left arrow keyboard keys to see the next and previous photos. This will also preload the next image making things smoother! For albums where rating has been enabled, you can rate photos by clicking on stars or pressing the 1 to 5 keyboard keys. There is an option under Your Account->Options to automatically load the next photo after voting if you like the idea of voting on entire albums. :)
This website may look similar to the old one, but it is a completely different beast underneath. Bugs are to be expected in any new piece of software... if you discover one, please let me (Tony) know about it!
There are now almost 3,000 photos online. Comments are always appreciated!
The Technical Details
This is the forth complete rebuild of this site. The first was built from the ground up using nothing but procedural PHP. That worked alright, but adding new features became tiring as many different files had to be updated and this would lead to more and more errors. The second version was based on Joomla! CMS, which was decent, but lacking in a few areas. Third, the site was built again using Drupal 6, another CMS. The only full-featured gallery available at the time occasionally caused server crashes and many features just didn't work. So I built the site again, using my own object-oriented code based upon the Zend Framework. This site is the result. It is far easier to work with and extend than the old versions.
